The staff at Saint John were very accommodating and friendly in helping me host a 10-person birthday happy hour. All the food was delicious -- especially the boudin eggrolls -- the cocktails were great, and the bill was not bad!
I contacted 4-5 other places during the party planning process and they were less flexible about certain things, but everyone I spoke with at Saint John before and during the event made things as easy as possible.
A special thanks to Erin, Jill, and our awesome server (pictured) for all their help!

I came to Saint John for drag brunch which was very fun. The food was excellent - we had white beans with Tasso and sausage, grits and grillades, Oysters Saint John, breakfast potatoes, and baked crabmeat dip and it was all fantastic. My Bloody Mary was very good too, mixed well and not obviously made with Zing Zang. Service was good but not outstanding, though the drag show meant less interaction with our server. I felt the prices were fair. I would definitely come back to eat here again.

Saint John shows promise, backed by a respected local chef, but our experience fell short of expectations.

The food had good flavor, but execution missed the mark. The lamb was served barely warm and quickly went cold. A rabbit dish was over-salted, and while the plating was serviceable, it lacked finesse. No dessert menu was provided—options were recited verbally—and we were never offered coffee or a follow-up. The service felt rushed and inattentive, despite the restaurant not being busy.

Adding to the discomfort, a chef (not the owner) stared intensely at the dining room, which made us feel watched. His repeated handling of his phone and cap before plating food was concerning.

Saint John has potential, but service, attention to detail, and kitchen professionalism need improvement before it can live up to its pedigree.

Chef Erik Cook has knocked this one out of the park. The food and cocktails are amazing. The atmosphere of the building is beautiful.

Juicy caramelized sweet butter charbroiled corn. Oysters Saint John served three ways: poached in double cream, crispy fried, and oyster dressing in vol-au-vent—tender, creamy, and savory. Rabbit fricassee with soft pillowy gnocchi had rich flavor and playful textures. Seafood and andouille gumbo was deeply flavorful with a subtle heat that built with each bite. Quick, friendly service and a dark, moody, romantic ambiance.
